Becca Caliendo

Becca discovered the power of self care through asana while living on the east coast and singing opera.  To Becca, yoga is a place to take off the armor. The yoga mat was where she was initially able to process through darkness while in an unhealthy living environment. She decided to leave the music career, east coast, and gift to others what yoga did for her. She understands how healing it is to practice and chooses to hold space for others to authentically take up space, breathe, and move, while feeling held and supported.

Becca believes we hold past trauma and energy that isn't serving us in our bodies.  We need to move our bodies to discharge that energy that isn't serving us, to be clear conduits, and to listen to our intuition.  Becca's interest first started with Iyengar and then a mixture of hatha and vinyasa.  After moving to Chicago, she dabbled in and discovered yoga nidra, ashtanga, tantric vinyasa, and kundalini yoga. Becca teaches new students, as well as people who have been practicing for many years.  Becca loves to teach yoga nidra, vinyasa, meditation, and accessible chair yoga to older students. She also adds a bit of energy work to her classes as a reiki master, and oneness deeksha blessing giver.

She is a forever student who currently practices with teachers in Chicago and on both coasts. Becca creates a welcoming, safe space in an alignment and breath-focused class where each yogi has the opportunity to choose their practice based on how they feel in the moment, regardless of their body size or range of motion with modifications welcome. Laying on the mat for the full hour is welcome as well. Take a class and notice the shifts that happen on and off the mat. Let us get out of the body to get into the mind. Namaste
